postcard of ventnor

Postcard of Ventnor, Isle of Wight, in 1907 with bathing huts drawn up along the water's edge.

The message on the reverse reads.

I hope you and 'Pigmy' are well. Teddy and I cycled to Ventnor today, which is an awfully pretty place. GWB

Postcard of Tentland at Shanklin, Isle of Wight, in July 1922! This isn't mentioned in the novel but I bought it from the same antiques arcade and thought it was interesting.

The message on the reverse reads.

Mother's best love, and she is very anxious to know how you are, and hopes all is well. Do not trouble to write a letter, a pc will do. How do you like this weather, much love from us all. Yours ever, Dorothy
